Hey everyone, Well we had a deluge of rain last week flooding the systems and are only just now venturing back on to the water, the systems are still brown and fresh and will take another week to clear up but we had some good success in the middle to lower reaches yesterday on the run in tide.

Monday the 23rd as the rain began to plummet down we had Mark Wheelahan from Brisbane along with Scott Wothdrspoon and Chris Elliott from Melbourne out with us for the afternoon session and in the wet and windy conditions we pushed up to the middle reaches where Chris bagged just the 1 Flathead, Scott bagged 2 Flathead and a bream while Mark nabbed 3 Flathead and a Bream for the session in less than ideal conditions.

We then had the rain come down in bucket loads for the next few days, so much so that I jumped on a plane to Perth to get some sun on the bones! The systems flooded extensively and are only just now beginning to clear

Friday the 3rd we ventured back on the water for the afternoon session with Ron Wilson from Melbourne and Rob Warne with Bernie Crisp from Bendigo, VIC. We fished the lower reaches 1st up playing on the run in tide pushing the salinity and clarity back into the system. With a slow start in the lower reaches seeing Bernie hook up on the 1 Flathead before we pushed up the system a bit to one of the flats where we got a hot bite on the drifts seeing the boys hook up and miss some nice fish before Bernie got the 1st solid 53cm Flathead on board and as it fell to the net the hook dropped out and Bernie proceeded o cast straight back out again and as I was dealing with his 1st fish he hooked up on another solid Flathead which fell to the same net bagging a 52cm Flathead to have a brace of fish in 2 casts. The boys fished nicely on the drift with Ron bagging a nice Grunter Bream along with 4 Flathead while Rob battled well also bagging nice 50cm Flathead along with 3 other Flathead, a solid 32cm Grunter Bream and a Estuary Cod, while Bernie ended up with 5 Flathead for the session.

Hey everyone, well the weather was the underlying factor in this weeks report with a few charters lost to the deluge of rainfall that we had earlier in the week but with the king tides this weekend it’s helping cleanse the fresh from the systems and fingers crossed the rain will stay away for the forthcoming week!

Monday morning we were out on the water with Geoff from Caloundra and Mark and his father in law Allen from Brisbane. We pushed into one of the creeks early on to avoid the wind where Mark hooked up 1st on a Flathead before Mark had a solid hook up and some darting runs before a nice 63cm Flathead fell to the net for some happy snaps. The rain then proceeded to come in strong squalls and we pushed up the system between the downpours with the boys persevering in howling winds and sideways rain to see Mark bag 2 Bream and a Flathead with Allen having no luck and Geoff bag another Flathead and a Bream for the Morning.

Tuesday saw a 100mm of rain come to the cost keeping us off the water and on Wednesday we had a corporate day with 52 people from Farmoz in Sydney where we liaised with The Sunshine Coast Barra park where all had a fun day seeing about 10 fish to 2 90sm Barra coming ashore.

Thursday we headed offshore with Tony from Melbourne in search of the Tuna schools which had just began to turn up before we had the rainfall and windy conditions where we trekked up and down the coast but to little avail with the blow scattering the schools and as hard as we searched we found no fish breaking the surface and unfortunately we didn’t turn a reel for the morning.

Saturday Morning we were out on Maroochy river with Shane Adams and Glen Pringle from Nth Brisbane along with Andrew Jacobsen from Sth Brisbane along with Vadim Mirmilstein from Melbourne where we had the last of the incoming tide early on seeing Andrew hook up on a juvenile Jewfish early on and aslo bag 2 Flathead for the morning. Glen nabbed  3 Grunter Bream and a Flathead and Vadim bagged 3 Bream and a Flathead. Shane had a slow start but came good with a Jewfish and a nice 45cm Flathead late in the Morning.

Saturday Afternoon  saw us on Maroochy again with Peter Coulson and his Son Josh from Melbourne where we pushed up the system in less than ordinary conditions with strong winds and a dirty fresh run out tide. Josh fished hard and battled the conditions to come up with a nice Jewfish and 3 Bream for the session while Dad Peter bagged a nice Grunter Bream for the Afternoon.

Hey everyone, well the Christmas week has come and gone and with a downpour of rain just before the 25th it made conditions less than ideal, already having the extra holiday traffic to deal with along with the jet skiers and water skiers we also had a good strong southerly wind thrown into the mix for good measure making for noise and wind in the loser reaches and a lot of fresh and brown water in the upper reaches. As I write this the systems are just beginning to recover and we hd a good bite session yesterday so hopefully the rains will stay away and the fishing will heat up for 2012.

Friday the 23rd we were out for a full day session on Maroochy river withbrothers  Matt and Dave Francis from Sydney and Brisbane respectfully along with Dave White from Buderim where we fished the lower reaches early on in the morning before the wind and traffic picked up pushing us up the system where the rain began to come down soaking us to the bones. The boys bravely battled the elements to see Matt bag 6 Flathead for the session with his brother Dave coming in at 5 Flathead and a Estuary Cod and Dave from Buderim bagging 5 Flathead for the day.

Saturday saw us out for a full day session with Dave and Steve Spurling joined by Josh for the half day morning session in what had to be the worst of weather with the boys sticking it out, we had that much rain the back deck was awash with 2 inches if water and the bilge pump was working all day. Josh tried hard to little avail for the morning having a couple of strikes and hook ups but dropped fish, Steve didn’t fair much better for the full day and David came in with 4 Flathead and a Trevally for the day.

After Christmas we were back on the water for a full day on the 27th with John Billet from Esk and his son Simon from Sydney where the deluge of rain had done it’s damage dumping fresh brown water throughout the systems, We battled the elements and conditions but with the traffic, water and wind against us we struggled for most of the day seeing the end result with Simon getting the best fish of the day early on a 36cm Bream along with one more Bream and two Flathead, John came in with 2 Flathead, a Catfish and a juvenile Jewfish for the session.

Wednesday we had Paul Thomas from Bidddeston on the Darling Downs and Doug Perrin from Maroochydore with similar conditions to the day before if not sightly worse with the water conditions deteriorted the boys fished hard and we covered the system extensively seeing Paul bag just the two Flathead and Doug just the one. Hard times indeed!

Thursday saw us out for the morning session with Bill and his son Jasper Hardy from the Gold Coast joined by Ben and Keane Hohnke from Ipswich where we tried the lower reaches early on with the push in tide to little avail before we pushed up to the middle reaches with Bill 1st on strike to bag a juvenile Jewfish followed shortly after by a catfish and another Jewfish  with Bill also bagging a Bream for the session to end up with 3 species and 4 fish. Ben also managed to bag 2 Jewfish for the morning but unfortunately both boys struck out for a duck!

Friday afternoon in windy conditions we had Martin Boering and his son Finn originally from Holland but now residing in Egypt where we pushed up to the middle reaches where thw eater is now clearing with every run in tide pushing the salinity back into the sytems with 7 year old Finn oming up trumps for the session seeing him bag 5 Bream and 6 Flathead to 39cms and Dad Martin coimg in with 3 Flathead and 3 Bream for the fternoon.

That’s all until next time guys and gals where hopefully the rain will stay away and the winds will abate, ’til then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters, Number One In Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Covering Queensland’s Sunshine Coast And Darwin In the Northern Territory

On the Tuesday 20th we had a half day morning session with Graeme Wood and his son Hamish from Brisbane where we targeted the lower reaches 1st on the run out tide before the wind rose late morning making us push up the system but with the rain of late the water clarity in the middle reaches made it difficult seeing Graeme nabb 2 Flathead and Hamish nab 3 Flathead and a Toadfish for his perseverance.

Wednesday 21st we had Philpi Moulds along with his son Lachlan from Rockhampton and father in law Colin from Caloundra for the morning session on Maroochy river. Hey Guys and Gals, well the weather is staying hot and dry for us so far and lets hope it continues that way though the easterly winds have been coming up in the mid mornings and staying with us until the late afternoons, lets hope they abate soon as hopefully the Tuna schools will start showing up in the bays shortly as the water temperatures begin to rise. We tried one offshore charter this week but with the temperatures rising the Snapper and Reef fish are moving further off shore and the Pelagic Tuna schools can’t be far away!

Wednesday Morning we were down the Pumicestone Passage with Alan Hajal from Melbourne where we had a little bit of action early on at the top end of Bribie seeing Alan get 3 Flathead before the wind picked up mid morning and though we pushed up the system to get a 44cm fish the windy conditions made it too difficult for us so we seek-ed shelter and Bream in the less affected Pelican waters though our efforts on the Bream were in vain I’m afraid seeing us bag just the 7 Flathead for the session.

Thursday Morning saw us on the Maroochy River system with Michael and Tina Sipple from Tamworth, NSW where we fished the middle reaches of the system seeing Tina bag just the one Bream for her efforts while Michael fished hard in once again prevailing easterly winds to bag 4 Flathead and the 1 Bream for the session.

On the Friday Morning we had Davin Gammell from Cabooulture out for the half day Morning session on Maroochy River again where we tried the lower reaches early on seeing Davin bag a Flathead off the Mudflat drop offs before we pushed back up to the middle reaches as the easterly winds kicked in but to little avail in the tough conditions seeing Davin bag just the one more Flathead for his efforts.

Sunday saw us on Maroochy river again , this time for an all day session with Brian and Micheal Cao from Brisbane where the boys opted for a late start to try and make the most of the evening session, with the late start we pushed right up the system early on to try and evade the dreaded Sunday traffic with the water skiers and Jet skiers invadeing our usual lower reach hot spots, The upper reaches fished slow with the late start nd the windy mid morning easterlies howled through the system making it difficult to fish the lighter jig heads to thier optimum. The boys hooked up on a couple of Flathead before we came back down the system in the late afternoon giving the boys a few drifts to hopefully raise a Jewfish but once again the wind prevailed before we came back to the lower reaches to fish the evening drift with the result seeing a 70cm Flathead landed, The final tally count on what was a difficult day saw Micheal bag 1 Bream and 2 Flathead and Brian catch 2 Flathead, 3 Bream and a Mangrove Jack.

Saturday afternoon we were on Maroochy River again with Mark Flanagan and Linda Kelly from Brisbane and despite the weekend heavy boat traffic we progressed to the middle reaches and we rewarded straight up with some bite action, Mark bagged 4 Flathead with the largest coming in at 48cms along with both a Silver Bream and a Grunter Bream, Linda however was not to be outdone fishing consistently to catch 5 Flathead to 51cma, a Silver Bream and on the very last cast of the day was duly rewarded with a screaming run and solid hook up on what turned out to be a beautiful 56cm Maroochy river slab of silver Jewfish!
