FAQ

What time do I need to be at the boat?

The best fishing times are typically early morning, so we depart at 8.00am to ensure that we’re on the water at the optimum time.

Do you offer a pick up and drop off service?

Yes we do. We are based in Mooloolaba and we offer a pick up and drop of service in the local area. We also offer pick up and drop off outside of the local area for full day charters for groups of 2 or more people. If you would like to arrange to be picked up, please discuss this with us when call to book your charter.

What do I need to bring?

We supply most of the things that you will need, including drinking water to ensure that your time on the water is a comfortable one. However things such as food and soft drinks are a personal choice so we ask that you bring your own. If you have arranged for us to pick you up from your accommodation we can stop on the way to the boat for you to grab something to eat. We also suggest that you bring the following items:

  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Long Sleeve Shirt
  • Food
  • Camera

Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?

No you don’t need to as we supply high quality Daiwa and Shimano fishing tackle for you to use during your charter. You are however welcome to bring your own gear if you wish to.

What species will we be targeting?

There are a variety of species available in the Sunshine Coast estuary systems including bream, flathead, whiting, mangrove jacks, jewfish and various trevally species. Some are more plentiful at different times of the year and not so common at other times. For more detailed information on what’s available ask what’s biting when you call to book your charter.

Can I target a particular species?

Yes, although obviously there are no 100% guarantees that you will be able to catch a particular species on a particular day, our extensive knowledge of the local river systems will at least put you in the right areas. The rest is up to you and the fish.

Will I definitely catch fish?

It’s called ‘fishing’ rather than ‘catching’ for a reason. We obviously can’t guaratee that the fish will be biting on any particular day, but given our wealth of experience and local knowledge, we will do everything in our powers to get you on to quality fish.

Can I keep the fish I catch?

Yes, if you want to keep a feed of fish then that’s fine by us providing it’s within the local size and bag limit regulations. We have a large esky onboard to keep your catch fresh.

What if the weather turns bad unexpectedly?

We generally have a good idea of what the weather will be like a day or so before your intended charter. But if the weather turns bad unexpectedly to the point where we can’t head out then we will give you the option of rebooking for another day or a full refund.

Can I ask questions during my charter?

Yes and we encourage you to do so. Our charters have a very strong focus on education. We aim to not only have you catching fish, but to also teach you how to successfully target, hookup and land a variety of estuary species on soft plastics.
