Hey again everyone….still getting the rainfall i’m afraid! As soon as it seems to settle we get another downpour but in between the torrents of rainfall we’ve been getting we are getting out on the water and amongst them with some good bite action happening.

On Monday 14th February we had Lyle and Dave Garrard out for a full day with us on Maroochy river joined by Ray Collins for the morning session. Ray was the 1st to get a substantial fish on board with a hard hitting 37cm Grunter Bream along with some smaller specimens for the morning where we fished the middle reaches before dropping ray back at the ramp and progressing further up the system with the two boys. Dave did good for the afternoon session with a sum of 4 Silver Bream, 3 Grunter Bream, 2 Flathead, 2 Trevally and a nice school Jewfish. Lyle bagged 3 Grunter Bream and 3 Flathead with one coming in at 47cms.

On Friday 18th we had Quinn Ryde from Bribe out with us on Maroochy River for the Morning sess who had a awesome bite period throughout the system bagging 10 Silver Bream, 8 Grunter Bream and 7 Flathead for the Morning! We also bagged a magnificent specimen of a 48cm Brown Mowong .

Monday 21st we were amongst them on Maroochy again with Peter O’ Riley and Anthony Barkle for a Morning session with Anthony bagging 2 Flathead and 3 Grunter Bream and Peter nabbing 2 Silver Bream and a Grunter Bream along with 2 Flathead, one of which was a Magnificent 60cm fish which had a few screaming runs before falling to the net.

That’s all until next time guys and we have some changes happening so will be posting a blog on a early next week with regards to such. Hey everyone, well what a spell we are having here in Queenland, between floods and cyclones the tourism and waterways have been scarce pickings i’m afraid and with the advent of February we aren’t out of the woods yet either. So just a few reports for you in the last couple of weks I’m afraid.

Monday 24th we had David and Natalie from Sans Souci in Sydney out with us for a half day onMaroochy river with lots of fresh still in the system it made the going tough and although we treid the lower reaches with the tidal flow clearing things somewhat it was hard work in the dirty water where we got some Flathead and a couple of Bream for our efforts.

Thursday 27th we had Matthew, Charles and Martin Weir from Moey in Victoria out with us on Maroochy river for a half day session in the morning where we again battled difficult conditions and a slow start where we fished the lower reaches early on before pushing back up the system late in the morning where we got a bit of bite action happening amongst the Flathead where the boys missed a few on the strike before Charles boated a 35cm Fish t be outdone by Martin who landed a nice 50cm specimen.

Saturday the 5th we had Peter from Birkdale along for the morning session and we had Dallas from Caloundra along for the full day, We targeted the lower reaches early on to little avail before pushing up to the middle reaches where we got a bit of action among some Grunter Bream with Peter bagging 3 Grunter Bream and a Silver bream for the morning where we also bagged a hard fighting Trevally. We then dropped Peter back to the ramp before pushing right up yo the upper reaches where we haven’t been in some 2 months with all the fresh in the system and sadly to no avail as it was still quite Brown and fresh so back down we came until we got a bit of bite action late in the day with Dallas getting a bust off on his own 2lb gear by a substantialhead shaking fish before then bagging both a Silver and Grunter Bream.

That’s all I’m afraid until next time everyone, stay posted and some as some changes are ahead! Until next time Tight Lines and Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage, Number1 In Soft plastics And Light Tackle Spin Sports Fishing Charters/Tours On The Sunshine Coast.

Hey everyone, a long time between fishing reports i know but you might have figured out that we’ve had a “bit” of rain up here on the good old “Sunshine” Coast! It’s been an absolute shocking spell with some torrential downpours leading to heaps of freshwater in our estuary systems and also pushing brown dirty water kms offshore resulting in the Tuna schools also getting pushed further offshore thus affecting both our charter options.
Just in this last week the king tides have been helping to push the salinity and clearer water back into the mouth of our river systems and this yellow thing has appeared in the sky with blue around it! So the phone has rung and we are getting back into the mix of it again with some bite action beginning to happen.

Wednesday we were on Maroochy river for the first time in over a month with Joe and his son Tim from Milmerran where we targeted the lower reaches of the river mouth on an incoming tide where Joe was 1st to hook up on a Flathead in difficult conditions where we tried all our usual hotspots to see Joe get 2 Flathead and a Silver Bream for the session with Tim unfortunately pulling a blank before we headed back to the ramp to beat the afternoon storms.

Thursday morning we had Darren and his son Tyler from Hornsby in Sydney out with us in Maroochy river again for the morning session where again we fished the lower reaches which were clearing up more and more with each incoming tide. Darren was 1st on strike with a Flathead falling early on and Darren fished well throughout the morning to end up with 6 fish consisting of 3 Flathead and 3 Bream where Tyler caught 1 Flathead but also caught the fish of the morning with a hard fighting Trevally giving him the runaround before falling to the net for a happy snap and release.

Friday morning saw us back on Maroochy again with Rob and his wife Ann along with their son Cameron from Warick where on the 1st cast Rob hooked and landed a nice 43cm Flathead with Rob also landing another 2 Flathead for the morning. Cameron also did well in the difficult conditions as the wind got up during the morning ending up with a Bream and two Flathead with his biggest just coming in under his dads fish at 42Cm’s. Ann fished hard to try and beat the boys but just got the one Flathead for the session.

That’s all I’m afraid guys this time around but hopefully the rains will stay away and we can get back out amongst them in the coming weeks, stay tuned and until then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters/Tours….. Hey everyone, how’s this bloody weather been? Middle of holiday season and it’s bucketing down outside,They are hopefully giving it to clear on Thursday this week so let’s hope we get a better spell and it settles down. For those that have got out on charters between the showers in the last week or so we have been rewarded with some good catches and the Tunas are now turning up in abundant schools offshore chasing the schools of whitebait which has led to some good solid hook ups so read into our offshore reports for updates on what’s happening there.

On Saturday 18th we had Eddy Wilkonson from Sheparton in Victoria with his two sons Jarod and Tim out for the morning session on Maroochy river where we fished the lower reaches near the mouth to get some of the run in tide pushing the fresher browner water back up the system. Jarod came in with 2 Flathead and a Bream for the session with Eddy bettering him with 2 Flathead and 2 Bream where Tim faired the best with 2 Flathead and 3 Bream for his efforts.

In the afternoon session Irene brought her two grand kids Blythe and Daniel Levick from Kunda Park out for an introductory fishing session on Maroochy with both Blythe and Daniel getting a Bream and a Flathead on pretty much the 1st cast…Well done guys!

Wednesday 22nd December saw us on Maroochy River again with Roy Hayward from New Milton in the UK  joined by Paul Thomas from Toowoomba and though the poms might beat em in the cricket the Aussies won the day in the fishing!  Roy did well in difficult conditions with a catch of 2 Bream, a Flathead and a Whiting but Paul faired a bit better with 3 Bream, 3 Flathead and would you believe a juvenille Cobia on the plastics in the river!

Monday 27th we had Ryan form Brisbane and Damien from Rockhampton( formerly Brisbane ) out on the river for the morning session in difficult conditions where again we fished the mouth on the change of tide where we nabbed a nice 42cm Whiting on Soft Plastics and Damien missed a solid bite before nabbing a hard fighting Trevally. The boys then went on a offshore stint on the tunas in the afternoon-see offshore fishing report.

That’s all to report I’m afraid everyone, until next week where hopefully the weather will clear…..Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All……Brian From Anglers Advantage, Number One In Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Spin Fishing Charters/Tours On The Sunshine Coast And Wishing You All A Great 2011.

Hey guys and gals just a quick post once again to let you know what’s happening around the trips before the silly season arrives on our door step and hopefully this weather clears up so we get our river systems during for the holiday period. It’s been a tough couple of weeks once again with all the rain and storms bringing a deluge of fresh brown water into our estuary systems but they are now beginning to clear.

The tunas have now started running offshore so we will hopefully have some reports happening for you in our offshore section in the forthcoming weeks with some reports of big Mack Tunas and Longtail out there.

In the last few days on our Soft Plastic expeditions we have been targeting the lower reaches near the river mouth where the incoming tidal flow has been giving us an ever increasing  stretch of clearer water to work with.

On Sunday morning we had Jane and daughter Sarah out with us on Maroochy River where we had the last of the run out tide for the first hour or so before on the incoming tidal flow we started seeing a bit of action with a bite off from a quality Flathead first before Sarah got hooked up on a quality Golden Spot Trevally at the mouth which gave her a good run around before falling to the net for a happy snap and a quick release. Sarah then followed up with a Flathead before mum Jane hooked up on a Trevally.

On Monday we had Peter and his two sons Charlie and Matt from Sheparton in Victoria out with us on Maroochy for the afternoon session where again we tried to work around the tidal flow with a couple of hook ups on some Grunter Bream early on before the tide change and run of fresh made the conditions difficult with both Matt and Charlie getting a  Grunter Bream a piece for the session with Peter unfortunately drawing a duck.

Wednesday we had Philip and his son Lachlan from Rockhampton out with us on Maroochy again where the tidal flow was now beginning to clear the river up to a greater degree which helped in seeing Philip land 2 Silver Bream, a Grunter Bream and a Flathead for his efforts with son Lachlan nabbing another two species with a Trevally and a Whiting for his hard efforts.

That’s about all for you at this stage everyone so here’s hoping for blue skies and little wind for the festive season, until then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All and Hoping You All Have A Good Christmas And Happy And Prosperous New Year, Brian From Anglers Advantage, Number One in Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Charters And Tours on the sunshine Coast

What a shocking spell of weather we’ve been having on the coast in the last few weeks with torrential downpours that are generally unheard of for us up here this time and more at home in cyclone season in the month of February.

Just a couple of quick reports for you  and here’s hoping the weather settles down for the upcoming Christmas holiday period!

On the 25th November we had Grant and Teresa from Brisbane along with Jenni from Darwin out with us on the Maroochy river for the morning season with Jenni getting her 1st experience with Soft Plastics nabbing 2 Bream and a Flathead, Grant boated 2 Flathead for the morning with Teresa stealing the show with 4 species, a Flathead, a Bream, a nice Whiting and on the last cast of the day nailed it with a stunning 66cm Jewfish!

The next day on the 26th we had Ben from Bondi along with Simon from Coolangatta and Aaron from Brisbane out with us for a full day session on Maroochy river where we started in the lower reaches with Ben missing a few strikes before Simon brought the 1st fish of the day to the boat. We progressed up through the system with the upper reaches not producing we came back to the middle reaches with the tally for the day for Ben being 6 Flathead whereas Simon nabbed 5 Flathead, a Silver Bream and a good quality Grunter Bream. Late in the afternoon we fished a channel where we nailed the Silver Bream with Aaron nabbing 8 Bream, 4 Flathead and also a Grunter Bream.

That’s about all to report for the moment I’m afraid everyone, here’s hoping the weather settles down for us all, until next time…..Tight Lines And Sceaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantge, Number One In Soft Plastics Fishing Charters/Tours On The Sunshine Coast.

Hey everyone a bit behind the times with the fishing report I know and been a little bit topsy turvy over the last 3 weeks with the weather turning on and off an with November traditionally a quite month before the onset of mayhem that goes with the summer holidays but we have had a few charters of late with the systems beginning to return to normal and a few fish being caught around the traps to prove the fact.

On Friday 22nd October we had David from Christchuch in NZ out with us for the afternoon session on Maroochy river where we fished the lower reaches to get some water clarity away from the fresh and brown water that is still haunting the middle reaches. David got a couple of small Flathead early on before getting a hard running Trevally to the boat to be followed shortly after with a stunning 64cm Flathead that fought long and hard before falling to the net.

On the following Saturday we had Nicholas from Melbourne joined by Luke and Brendan from Toowoomba where we fished the Golden Beach end of the Pumicestone Passage in less than favourable conditions with big tides and windy conditions where we tried several spots to see Nick land 1 Flathead for his efforts with Luke nabbing 3 and unfortunately Brendan drew a blank for the afternoon.

On the Sunday we had Greg and Rick with us on the Pumicestone Passage for the Morning session where again in difficult conditions we fought hard in several spots with Greg catching a Sole and Rick getting just the 1 Flathead for his efforts.

The Sunday Afternoon saw us on the Maroochy river system with Paul from Calgari in Canada where we had better luck with Paul catching 4 species for his effort with 2 Flathead, a hard fighting Trevally, a Bream and to cap it off a beautiful 64cm Jewfish!

On the Tuesday 2nd we had Nick from Cobram in Victoria out with us on Maroochy river for the Morning session with the water clarity visibly reduced from a recent downpour again we travelled to all our usual spots to little avail with Nick nabbing a Bream and Flathead for the Morning.

Wednesday the 3rd we had Ian from the UK out with us on Maroochy river for the Morning session where the tidal flow had begun to clear the freshwater from the lower reaches where Ian managed 3 Bream and 3 Flathead for his efforts.

On Sunday we had Phil from Sheparton in Victoria along with Ray from Scarborough out on Maroochy River again for the Morning stint with Ray nabbing a Bream and a Flathead where Phil came in trumps on the numbers catching 3 species combining of 1 Flathead, 2 Silver Bream and 2 Grunter Bream for the Morning.

Thursday 10th we had Ned, Steve, Doug and Trent all locally from Mooloolaba and Maroochydore out with us on Maroochy River for the Morning where all the boys pulled in fish with Trent nabbing 3 Flathead, Doug getting a Bream and a Trevally, Steve also caught a Bream and a Trevally with Ned nabbing 4 species combining of 1 Grunter Bream, 1 Trevally, A nice Whiting and 4 Silver Bream for the Morning.

On the Thursday Afternoon we had Adrian from Brighton in Sydney out with us on the Maroochy system where with the run out tide all the spots that had been firing for us in the Morning had shut down and although we tried hard throughout the system it came to little avail with Adrian only managing to bag a Silver Bream for the afternoon.

Hey everyone just a quick post to let you all know what’s been happening on the coast in the last couple of weeks which isn’t much I’m afraid. We’ve had a deluge of rain which has seen the systems flood to beyond boiling point with the rivers awash with the brown fresh water running off the land and spilling out of the systems to a few kms offshore.

The offshore Tunas and Mackerels should be turning up shortly so keep posted and I’ll let you all know when that kicks off. We will be chasing these pelagic speedsters on the light tackle spin outfits with 3500 size reels spooled with 10kg braid and 20/30lb fluorocarbon leaders on 9kg rods which make for some mind blowing runs when they hit our metal slugs and slices. These trips are adrenalin action packed charters as we chase down the fast moving schools of marauding tunas which give them selves away with thier surface action strikes.

We also have the final designs done for our upf 50 long sleeve sun shirts which are going to look really slick with a bait ball getting busted by a tuna chasing a metal slug on the back and a bream giving chase to a soft plastic on the front, I will get a design of one uploaded onto the website for you all so you can check them out. We will be selling these at $99.95 and will make excellent presents for Christmas. They are a light weight quick drying full upf 50 shirt. We have done an initial order of 30 so if you want one for Christmas get in quick!

The bookings are also beginning to come in for the christmas holiday period so if you are venturing this way on the holidays and looking to do a trip contact me soon to make sure you get the days you want.

I’ll have more for you on the fishing reports end of it next week as the floods abate and the estuary systems clear up with the incoming tides introducing saltwater back into the rivers.

That’s all until next time guys and gals, until then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All…Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters/Tours… Number 1 in Soft Plastics On The Sunshine Coasts Waterways!

Hey everyone been a couple of busy weeks on the water with mixed results with some good days and some very hard days in the mix particularly in this last week where the systems have shut down a bit with the big tides making for hard work with little result so we just have to keep on plugging and they will turn back on again and as they say that’s fishing!

Monday 20th we had Andrew and Tom from Melbourne with us for the morning session on Maroochy river where we fished the lower reaches  and around the channel markers for Tom to steal the show catching 4 Bream and a nice 59cm Flathead for his efforts while Andrew boated a couple of Flathead for the morning.

On that afternoon we had Jake and Jason from Geelong out with us on  Maroochy River where Jake stole the show nabbing 7 Flathead with 2 specimens coming in at 44 and 50cm’s respectively and Jason getting 4 Bream for the session.

Tuesday Morning we had Chris and his two sons Coby and Jack from Tweed Heads with us on Maroochy river where thetwo boys stole the show early on with Jack nabbing 4 Flathead with one coming in at 45cms and Coby getting 3 Flathead with the largest coming in at 50cms with Coby also nabbing a Bream for the session. Chris lulled the boys into a false sense of security before making a late charge with 6 Flathead getting the largest one of the day at 51cms and another at 47cmsalong with 3 Bream.

Saturday afternoon we had David and Ian from Brisbane along withLuke who was with us on Maroochy river where we tried through out the middle reaches giving our Jewspot a good wok over as well as all our usual flats where we had very little success with Luke nabbing a Sole on the Soft Plastics before in the last few minutes Ian got nailed by a hard running Jewfish which came to the net at 54cms.

On the Sunday we were down the PumicestonPassage for an all day session with Mitch from North Lakes and Ben from Caboolture where  we fished the top end of Bribie early on with the boys getting stuck in to some juvenile Flathead before we pushed right up the system fishing our usual productive spots to no avail with freshwater in the system after some downfalls of rain and also quite a bit of weed making it difficult. We pushed backdown the system for the afternoon bite and once again the boys got stuck into the Flathead with the final result heading Mitch’s way with a bag of 10 Flathead to 44cms and Ben nabbing 5 Flathead for the session.

Tuesday morning we were on Maroochy again where the system was still shut down with Ian from Palmwoods and his son Tim from Mount Isa  where the boys fished hard throughout the system as we tried to chase some bite action down somewhere with only the one result being a juvenile Flathead that fell to Ian’s rod.

Thursday we had Steve and Jackson from Melbourne out with us for an all day session on Maroochy river joined for the Morning stint with Stuart where again we fished hard in all the usual spots and tried our Jew spot where Stuart had a good hit which went on a screaming run before dropping the hook. Stuart managed 3 Flathead for the Morning session before we dropped him back to the ramp where we then pushed right up the system with the two boys. Again we fished hard with Steve getting 5 Flathead for his efforts. Jackson managed 4 Flathead and had a hard hit in Petrie Creek where it pulled him hard into the rocky bottom fraying the leader material to a bust off by what we assumed to be a Jack but of course we’ll never know!

Friday Morning we were down the Pumicestone Passage with Simon and Toby from Sydney in shocking windy conditions where we again tried all the hot spots to no avail before we pushed into Pelican Waters to try and get some sheltered spots out of the howling wind. We fished several bays before Simon hooked up on a screamer only to have it drop the hook, On the very next cast he was on again with a hard fighting Trevally being the culprit. And that was about all the action we got for the Morning.

On the Friday Afternoon we were on the Maroochy system with JJ from Adelaide and Kevin with his daughter Rachael from Brisbane. We once again fished hard throughout the system with very limited results but all 3 got fish with a Bream a piece for JJ and Kevin and Rachel eventually nabbing a Trevally for her work.

That’s about all until next time everyone where hopefully in the coming week the big tides will abate and the fish will come on the bite hard, until then everyone Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters/Tours… Number One In Soft Plastics Fishing In the Heart Of  The sunshine Coast

Hey everyone, sorry so late in posting a report to you all again, have been away for a couple weeks but we are full on back into the charters and with holiday season upon us we will have lots to report in the coming weeks.

Before I went away we had Paul, Graham and Tom out with us on Maroochy river on the morning of the 29th august in what proved to be very hard conditions with the wind pushing all over the river making a lot of our productive spots unfishable. Paul fared the best with a nice Trevally caught early on following up during the course of the morning with 3 Flathead and a Bream. Son Tom was less fortunate bagging a Bream and 2 Flathead for the session with Graham bringing up the rear with 1 Bream for his efforts.

The next afternoon of the 30th we had Rob and Jodi from Brisbane out with us on Maroochy River where the conditions were more favourable showing in the results with Rob fairing good with a nice 57cm Flathead early on and bagging 6 more Flathead for the session along with a Bream.Jodi also did good bagging 2 nice hard fighting Trevally around the middle reaches along with 5 Flathead and 3 Bream, all in all an awesome session.

On Tuesday 31st we had David and Graham from Brisbane out on Maroochy again with David getting 2 Flathead while Graham stormed in with 8 Flathead and a Trevally for he session with no monsters but the biggest being 43cms.

In the week just gone we 1st had Chris from Canberra along with Tony and Andrew out with us on Thursday morning on Maroochy River where we had a low tide for most of the morning leaving us with limited results with Chris nabbing 3 small Flathead and Tony 1 with Andrew pulling a duck.

In the afternoon we had Gaine senior and Gaine Junior out with us on Maroochy with Senior Gaine nabbing 2 Flathead and Junior Gaine coming good with 3 Flathead to 46cms, 1 Bream and a Trevally for his efforts.

Friday morning we had Greg from Tamworth out on his own on Maroochy River again  where we targeted the lower reaches early on before the wind picked up pushing us up the system where Greg got a couple of nice Flathead coming in at 44cms and 55cms along with 2 smaller specimens and a nice hard fighting Estuary Cod.

Friday afternoon we had Brian and his son Jordan from Tasmania out with us on Maroochy again with Jordan catching a Flathead and a Bream and Brian coming in ahead with 3 Flathead to 42cms and 6 Bream which were hitting hard around the channel makers.

Saturday morning saw us down the Pumicestone Passage for a change with Michael from Coolmon near Wogga Wogga, NSW where we fished the Golden Beach ection early on and the twin Power 1000 screamed its drag in as the 2-4kg stick loaded up on what I thought was the bottom before it kicked into action going on some hard steady runs every time it got near the boat and just as the double and leader came into sight it would shoot off again, Michael handled it brilliantly giving it the leeway but steady pressure it needed before coming up through the murky water for our first look at a primo  Flathead, going on a few more hard runs before we squeezed it in the environet for a happy snap and a measure at 80cms!   Well done Michael. Hard to top for the rest of the morning with Michael getting 5 smaller Flathead for the Session.

Saturday afternoon we had Nick from Melbourne out with us on the Pumicestone Passage as well with Nick getting a couple of Flathead early on before we hit a purple patch getting a Golden Spot Trevally and Flathead after Flathead with Nick getting 3 over 40cms and the biggest going 53cms with a total all up of 13 fish for the session.

That’s all until next week Guys and Gals…Until then Tight Lines and Screaming Reels to You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Number 1 In Soft Plastics Fishing Charters/Tours On the Sunshine Coast.
