Hey everyone, well the Christmas week has come and gone and with a downpour of rain just before the 25th it made conditions less than ideal, already having the extra holiday traffic to deal with along with the jet skiers and water skiers we also had a good strong southerly wind thrown into the mix for good measure making for noise and wind in the loser reaches and a lot of fresh and brown water in the upper reaches. As I write this the systems are just beginning to recover and we hd a good bite session yesterday so hopefully the rains will stay away and the fishing will heat up for 2012.

Friday the 23rd we were out for a full day session on Maroochy river withbrothers  Matt and Dave Francis from Sydney and Brisbane respectfully along with Dave White from Buderim where we fished the lower reaches early on in the morning before the wind and traffic picked up pushing us up the system where the rain began to come down soaking us to the bones. The boys bravely battled the elements to see Matt bag 6 Flathead for the session with his brother Dave coming in at 5 Flathead and a Estuary Cod and Dave from Buderim bagging 5 Flathead for the day.

Saturday saw us out for a full day session with Dave and Steve Spurling joined by Josh for the half day morning session in what had to be the worst of weather with the boys sticking it out, we had that much rain the back deck was awash with 2 inches if water and the bilge pump was working all day. Josh tried hard to little avail for the morning having a couple of strikes and hook ups but dropped fish, Steve didn’t fair much better for the full day and David came in with 4 Flathead and a Trevally for the day.

After Christmas we were back on the water for a full day on the 27th with John Billet from Esk and his son Simon from Sydney where the deluge of rain had done it’s damage dumping fresh brown water throughout the systems, We battled the elements and conditions but with the traffic, water and wind against us we struggled for most of the day seeing the end result with Simon getting the best fish of the day early on a 36cm Bream along with one more Bream and two Flathead, John came in with 2 Flathead, a Catfish and a juvenile Jewfish for the session.

Wednesday we had Paul Thomas from Bidddeston on the Darling Downs and Doug Perrin from Maroochydore with similar conditions to the day before if not sightly worse with the water conditions deteriorted the boys fished hard and we covered the system extensively seeing Paul bag just the two Flathead and Doug just the one. Hard times indeed!

Thursday saw us out for the morning session with Bill and his son Jasper Hardy from the Gold Coast joined by Ben and Keane Hohnke from Ipswich where we tried the lower reaches early on with the push in tide to little avail before we pushed up to the middle reaches with Bill 1st on strike to bag a juvenile Jewfish followed shortly after by a catfish and another Jewfish  with Bill also bagging a Bream for the session to end up with 3 species and 4 fish. Ben also managed to bag 2 Jewfish for the morning but unfortunately both boys struck out for a duck!

Friday afternoon in windy conditions we had Martin Boering and his son Finn originally from Holland but now residing in Egypt where we pushed up to the middle reaches where thw eater is now clearing with every run in tide pushing the salinity back into the sytems with 7 year old Finn oming up trumps for the session seeing him bag 5 Bream and 6 Flathead to 39cms and Dad Martin coimg in with 3 Flathead and 3 Bream for the fternoon.

That’s all until next time guys and gals where hopefully the rain will stay away and the winds will abate, ’til then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters, Number One In Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Covering Queensland’s Sunshine Coast And Darwin In the Northern Territory

Hey everyone, my apologies, I know it’s been awhile since my last fishing report and I better get one in now before the holiday season kicks in to full gear and I’ll be constantly laying catch up. The weather has been a bit Topsy Turvy so fingers crossed that the rain and storms will stay away as we head towards the cyclone season!

On Wednesday 23rd November we were out on Maroochy river with Colin Elliot from Hervey Bay for the half day morning session where Colin got into the Flathead nabbing 4 for the morning along the side of the sand flats seeing Colin also bag a Bream for the session.

After some rain for the week we were out again on the following Wednesday with Jamie Collinson and his son and daughter Jordan and Jessica from Roma where we targeted the middle reaches of Maroochy river seeing the guys catch 4 species between them with Jamie nabbing a Flathead, a Silver Bream and a Grunter Bream, Jessica caught 3 Flathead, a Bream and a Catfish for her efforts while Jordan was ahead in the numbers stake catching 6 Flathead, 1 Silver Bream and a Catfish for the session.

Sunday the 4th saw us out with Scott Luttrell and his 2 sons Alex and Matt from Hobart, TAS where we did the morning session on Maroochy river seeing all the boys get into the Flathead with Matt nabbing 4, Alex also bagged 4 Flathead as well as a Sole and Scott bagged 3 Flathead, 2 Silver Bream and also a Sole for the morning Session.

December 11th we had Andrew from Mooloolaba along with Gary and Chris from Sydney along with Andrew from NZ with Mooloolaba Andrew fairing the best nabbing 3 Bream and 4 Flathead for his efforts, Gary managed just the one Flathead while Chris nabbed 2 Bream and 2 Flathead, Andrew from NZ bagged just the one Flathead and one Bream for the morning.

Monday the 12th we had Bruce Doherty from Geelong, VIC for a half day session in difficult conditions seeing Bruce nab a Silver Bream, a Trevally and a Whiting for the morning.

On the Tuesday 20th we had a half day morning session with Graeme Wood and his son Hamish from Brisbane where we targeted the lower reaches 1st on the run out tide before the wind rose late morning making us push up the system but with the rain of late the water clarity in the middle reaches made it difficult seeing Graeme nabb 2 Flathead and Hamish nab 3 Flathead and a Toadfish for his perseverance.

Wednesday 21st we had Philpi Moulds along with his son Lachlan from Rockhampton and father in law Colin from Caloundra for the morning session on Maroochy river.  That’s all until next time everyone and with the holidays looming and Christmas just around the corner the bookings are coming in fast so here’s hoping we get a good weather pattern, Happy Christmas to you all and Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters, Number 1 in Soft plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Covering Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and Darwin In The Northern Territory.

Hey Guys and Gals, well the weather is staying hot and dry for us so far and lets hope it continues that way though the easterly winds have been coming up in the mid mornings and staying with us until the late afternoons, lets hope they abate soon as hopefully the Tuna schools will start showing up in the bays shortly as the water temperatures begin to rise. We tried one offshore charter this week but with the temperatures rising the Snapper and Reef fish are moving further off shore and the Pelagic Tuna schools can’t be far away!

Wednesday Morning we were down the Pumicestone Passage with Alan Hajal from Melbourne where we had a little bit of action early on at the top end of Bribie seeing Alan get 3 Flathead before the wind picked up mid morning and though we pushed up the system to get a 44cm fish the windy conditions made it too difficult for us so we seek-ed shelter and Bream in the less affected Pelican waters though our efforts on the Bream were in vain I’m afraid seeing us bag just the 7 Flathead for the session.

Thursday Morning saw us on the Maroochy River system with Michael and Tina Sipple from Tamworth, NSW where we fished the middle reaches of the system seeing Tina bag just the one Bream for her efforts while Michael fished hard in once again prevailing easterly winds to bag 4 Flathead and the 1 Bream for the session.

On the Friday Morning we had Davin Gammell from Cabooulture out for the half day Morning session on Maroochy River again where we tried the lower reaches early on seeing Davin bag a Flathead off the Mudflat drop offs before we pushed back up to the middle reaches as the easterly winds kicked in but to little avail in the tough conditions seeing Davin bag just the one more Flathead for his efforts.

Sunday saw us on Maroochy river again , this time for an all day session with Brian and Micheal Cao from Brisbane where the boys opted for a late start to try and make the most of the evening session, with the late start we pushed right up the system early on to try and evade the dreaded Sunday traffic with the water skiers and Jet skiers invadeing our usual lower reach hot spots, The upper reaches fished slow with the late start nd the windy mid morning easterlies howled through the system making it difficult to fish the lighter jig heads to thier optimum. The boys hooked up on a couple of Flathead before we came back down the system in the late afternoon giving the boys a few drifts to hopefully raise a Jewfish but once again the wind prevailed before we came back to the lower reaches to fish the evening drift with the result seeing a 70cm Flathead landed, The final tally count on what was a difficult day saw Micheal bag 1 Bream and 2 Flathead and Brian catch 2 Flathead, 3 Bream and a Mangrove Jack.

Hey everyone, well we made the trip south and are now back and fully operational on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast where it’s certainly living up to it’s name with beautiful weather conditions and temperatures in the high 20′s. The river systems are in excellent conditions and the fish are wanting to play!

Friday Morning we had Ron Mabb fron Caboolture out with his twon sons Paul and Steve where we were on Maroochy River seeing Steve 1st to Hook up on a solid hard fighting 55cm Jewfish, Paul not to be outdone bagged a 55 1/2cm Flathead later on in the Morning along with two smaller Flathead and a Bream for the session, Steve also bagged a Bream and father Ron was getting most of the bite action but only managed to bag the one Flathead for the session.

Saturday afternoon we were on Maroochy River again with Mark Flanagan and Linda Kelly from Brisbane and despite the weekend heavy boat traffic we progressed to the middle reaches and we rewarded straight up with some bite action, Mark bagged 4 Flathead with the largest coming in at 48cms along with both a Silver Bream and a Grunter Bream, Linda however was not to be outdone fishing consistently to catch 5 Flathead to 51cma, a Silver Bream and on the very last cast of the day was duly rewarded with a screaming run and solid hook up on what turned out to be a beautiful 56cm Maroochy river slab of silver Jewfish!

We had Christian from Canberra out with us last Wednesday where we targeted the bays early on on the early run out tide getting stuck into the Queenfish straight away with some good hits and air borne tactics these pelagic species gave us good fun before we crossed the harbour and into the feeder creeks fishing the drains and creek mouths seeing Christian bag 8 species for the day consisting of  3 Queenfish, 4 Catfish, A Brown Mowong., Flathead, Bream, Estuary Cod, a Tarpon that did some spectacular jumps and 2 Barramundi with the largest coming in at 66cms.

Like I say that’s it on the fishing reports in the top end until next March everyone, stay tuned with me on the Sunshine Coast reports and hope to see you on board down there or in Darwin again in 2012, Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You ll, Brian From Anglers Advantage Fishing Charters, Number 1 In Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Charters cover Queensland’s Sunshine Coast And Darwin In the Northern Territory.

Hey everyone, well the build up may be well and truly here and the tourism trade is backing off but the fishing is well and truly hotting up, particularly in the feeder creeks wand with the spring tides the Barra have been making themselves heard by their resounding buffing of the schools of spooked bait fish!

Friday the 7th we had Rowan and Kate Moore out with us for the full day where the tides wern’t the most favorable as we targeted the creek systems with the Soft Plastic gear where Kate was happy to watch as Rowan worked the creek systems hard flicking the little 1/8oz jig heads around the mouths to be rewarded with some Golden Snapper before the Daiwa Luvias 200 reel screamed to life as a very solid Brown Mowong did some resounding runs for freedom all to no avail eventually falling to the net to come in at a very respectful 6kgs! Rowan ended up with 3 Golden Snapper, 1 Golded Trevally and a Catfish to add to the Mowong as well as dropping a Queenfish.

On Monday we were out for a half day with Jonathan Sweet from Melbourne, Henry Sweet from Adelaide and Alan O’ Neill from Sydnaey, we crossed the harbour to the feeder creek systems where on the run out tide the boys flicked the Soft Plastics around the drain mouths where the Golden Snapper were firing seeing the boys get a good mixed bag of species as well. Jonathan took 4 Golden Snapper, a solid Brown Mowong and a Cod for the 4 hour session, Henry did well bagging a thumping Brown Mowong, a nice Golden Trevally alond with a GT, a Cod and 3 Golden Snapper. Alan also bagged a Brown Mowong and a Javelin Fish for the session.

On Tuesday we were out on the harbour again for a half day session with Wes and Stacey from Melbourne where Stacey was straight up on the 1st cats nabbing a Golden Snapper, Stacey then proceeded with her hook ups nabbing 4 Golden Snapper, and a nice Brown Mowong which gave her some hard work to get to the net on the 4lb gear along with a nice Golden Trevally. Wes worked hard to try nd keep up seeing him bag 1 Golden Snapper, 2 Catfish and a Trevally for his efforts.

Thursday we had Mark and his wife Michelle Sullivan along with their on Andrew out with us for  half day session where gain we crossed the harbour to the feeder creek systems and with the spring tides the systems drained nicely for us as we searched hard for the much sought after Barramundi. Michelle hooked up on 2 Flathead,a Catfish and a Cod while Andrew took out the species catching 3 Flathead, a Queenfish, a Mangove Jack, a Blue Threadfin Salmon and a Barra but catch of the day went to mark who persevered flicking and working the Soft Plastic around the drain mouths to be eventually rewarded with a solid hook up and have the Daiwa Caldia 2000 reel scream to life as the water exploded as a mighty Barramundi shook it’s whole body into the air and after several heart in mouth moments as the fish hit the air again and again and actually head butted the boat at one stage she eventually fell to the net to jeers of joy for the much sought after happy snap coming in at a very respectful 73cms on the 4lb gear before being released to fight another day. Well done all around guys!

On Friday we again had Wes out with us along with his friend Bolo where we searched the drain mouths with both the boys fishing hard to try and bag a Barra on the Soft Plastics with plenty of activity among the spooked bait fish the boys kept flicking seeing Boro nab 2 Catfish and a Trevally for the session and with Wes also bagging a Catfish and a Javelin Fish before once again the water exploded with a mighty Barramundi being the culprit, Wes fought the fish well keeping it under control before it fell to the net to come in at 66cms.

Saturday we had a half day session with Danielle Young and Chris Gale from Adelaide along with Mitch Lynch from Darwin and again with the spring tides the guys flicked the lures throughout the systems seeing Danielle hook up on a Queenfish, a Mangrove Jack, a Flathead,a Javelin Fish and a Ray for good measure. Mitch bagged a Mangrove Jack and was unlucky to hook up on 2 Barramundi seeing both of them drop the hook on their air borne antics. Chris persevered seeing him bag an Ox Eye Herring,a Catfish,a much maligned Stonefish and a much sought after Barramundi seeing Chris also drop another Barra.

That’s all ntil next time everyone, Until Then Tight Lines And Screaming Reels To You All. Brian From Anglers Advantage fishing Charters, Number 1 In Soft Plastics And Light Tackle Sports Fishing Covering Darwin In the Northern Territory And Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Hey everyone, another week gone and the temperatures are slowly creeping up into the mid thirties and the humidity is building here in the top end but as it does so the action is also warming up with some good schools of Queenfish targeting the bait-fish on the high tides and when the creek systems drain the Golden Snapper are firing along with the buffing Barra!

Last Wednesday we had Lindsay Hatelel from Melbourne out for an afternoon session with the low springs where we targeted the drains to nab a Golden Snapper, Catfish and 2 Barra for the session.

Thursday saw us on the water for a full day session with Allan Ainsworth From Tamworth, NSW where we fished the bays in the morning on the high tides seeing Allan produce 6 Queenfish and 6 Trevally before we moved into the feeder creek systems on the run out seeing Allan bag a Catfish and a Javelin fish but dropping both a nice Mangrove Jack and a Barramundi for the afternoon session.

Sunday morning we were out with Alison Todd and Sean Behan from Glebe in NSW where again we fished the bays on the mornings high tide to see both Alison and Sean have some good action on the Queenfish on the Light Tackle Soft Plastic’s outfit’s before we tried one of the closer creeks to mix things up a bit. The resulting tally saw Alison catch 3 Queenfish while Sean caught 2 Queenfish and a Catfsh  with sean getting pulled in onto a snag by a very solid Brown Mowong.

Monday saw Sean and Alison out with us again for a full day session, again we targeted the bays early on in the morning seeing Sean catch 5 Queenfish and 2 Trevally and Alison bag 4 Queenfish and 1 Trevally before the tide started racing out putting the Queenfish down and we crossed the harbour to the feeder creek systems and has the tide dropped flicked the small Soft plastics around the mouths of the drains and across the creeks, As Sean flicked across one such drain the little Daiwa Luvias 2000 reel screamed in pain as the 4lb Fireline stripped off the drag and across the guides of the 4-8lb spin stick with the culprit showing itself some 30mts away in the shape of a prized Barramundi, The next 10 minutes had everybody’s hearts in their mouths as the mighty fish did some screaming runs and head shaking airborne tactics trying to shake the jig head loose but all in vain as the 79cm Barra fell to the net to high fives and whoops of joy before getting the moment captured on camera. Sean also managed another Barra along with 2 Golden Snapper and a very solid Brown Mowong. Alison also worked hard for the afternoon bagging 2 Flathead, a Catfish and a very toxic Stonefish on the Soft Plastics.

On the Tuesday we had Christian Willett from Perth out with us for a full day where in the Morning Christian bagged 2 Queenfish with the larger one coming in at 80cms on the 4lb gear, Christian also bagged 2 Golden Snapper, 2 Javelin Fish, a Trevally, a Catfish and a hard fighting aerial bourne Blue Threadfin Salmon.
