Hey guys just a quick one to let you know what’s happening offshore. Had Angelo from Shell Harbour, NSW out with us yesterday along with Gary from Nambour. We started off on the troll in search of Spanish Mackerel in close in the bays with little result but as the sun rose higher schools of Mack Tuna started popping up periodically so we targeted a few on the light spin gear with Angelo casting right into the bait ball to have the little Branzino 3000 scream in agony as it went on a small run before he knocked it over.

We then headed wider to the 40mtr and 50mtr marks where we had previously been knocking over Wahoo, Dolphin and small Black Marlin and although there was plenty of bait the water temp had dropped by 2 degrees and with little action we decided to put the boys on the Plastics gear and start to work our winter reefs.

1st drop down and the boys were on to the Cobia with Gary the 1st to bring aboard a legal Cobia followed shortly after with Gary getting some good runs out of the Branzino outfit before bring aboard a 87cm specimen. We did a few drifts with the boys getting 6 legal Cobia between them along with some smaller specimens. We tried another reef briefly to see Gary catch an Octopus on a Soft Plastic before heading back inshore to try our last couple of hours chasing Spanish. Once again we found schools of Tunas with Gary getting a solid take on the spin gear to land about a 3kg Mack Tuna that gave him the run around. With the sun going down we were back in port at 5 to fillet the Cobia for the boys tea.
